On weekends in the downtown areas of cities, you can find these advertising troupes. They are paid to wear uniforms like a marching band, beat on drums, and hold up signs. It’s not real music — just annoying noise. But it certainly gets your attention!

Most of the “marching band” is made up of retired people. They do this as a hobby and as a way to make a bit of extra money. I guess they are past that age when you would be humiliated to be seen on the street wearing a red uniform and banging a drum.

The ladies were so friendly and one stopped to have a talk with us and pose for pictures! Her troupe kept on marching down the street, but you can see them looking back at us. After a few shots, she ran to catch up with the rest.
My husband, a drummer himself, couldn’t resist a drumroll on her snare.
Hi and welcome! I'm Jimmie and this is my online collage of our Charlotte Mason homeschool. Taking just a little more time to document our learning shortens the learning curve for other busy homeschool moms.
