Walking home from the botanical gardens, we saw these children whose moms were serving up cooked potatoes nearby. This older one was actually helping out by peeling potatoes.
Here are the moms. On the left is a spicy rice/potato mixture. (Closer view below.) These starchy foods are very inexpensive — about 25 cents per serving.
Working ladies often wear sleeve covers to protect their clothes. Very smart!
Yes, we do eat these foods every now and then. On a cool day, the smells of warm food cooking outdoors are very tempting! Besides filling your stomach, the food often serves as a hand warmer.
