Fireworks for Chinese New Year

by Jimmie on February 11, 2009

We happened to be in a hotel when the Chinese New Year fireworks began in earnest! You can see from the view over the city just how many different groups of people were setting off fireworks!

They were everywhere. The sound was incredible. I can only imagine that a war zone would sound like that! Realize that each burst of light represents a family or other small group of friends setting of fireworks. This is not an city display but rather individuals celebrating the new year.

The new year is over now. It’s officially 2009 without any confusion about that time between Jan. 1 and the beginning of the lunar year. I’m glad it’s over. And the weather has turned toward spring. We were outside without coats today!
