Hong Bao Tree

Here is a nice Chinese styled decoration we found in a hotel lobby. (I suspect that it’s a variation of a Christmas tree, but I’m not absolutely sure.) Hong Bao (red packets) are hung on winter branches, here sprayed a festive gold.

This year is the year of the ox, so oxen feature prominently on the envelopes. At Chinese New Year, adults give children these red envelopes with cash inside.
