Incense at the Riverbank

During our nature walk, we saw evidence of people worshiping at the riverside — sticks of incense wedged upright between the rocks. There was even an overturned bowl of rice that had been offered as well.

This is a fitting photo for today since Saturday was Qing Ming Jie. Today school children are given a holiday to celebrate this holiday, called in English Tomb Sweeping Day. It’s a traditional holiday to honor (ie worship) ancestors at their gravesites.
