First – I have referenced this page at least a dozen times while talking to friends. Second, Have you read Last Child in the Woods? Third, thank you for using your gift of words to say what my heart says every time I look outside! This is why we YEARN to be outside and even if you are not an ourdoorsy type – even a walk is peaceful! Praise God for His creation….

Hi! I really enjoyed reading your post about how God reveals Himself through nature. I am very much NOT a naturalist but since I have been “doing” the nature walks with my children as I endeavour to incorporate Charlotte Mason style learnings in my home, I have seen this truth every time! It still surprises me how very present He is- in nature! Thanks for a great and enlightening/ truthful post “O)

Thanks for posting this, Jimmie! It really makes sense. I love how God reveals Himself through nature, and love to show my kids…but I don’t always think of the study of nature as being “right up there” with studying the Bible. But it would make sense to study it since so much of nature is referred to within God’s Word..and to study it enriches not only our understanding of our Creator, but of the Word that He has given us as well.

What a wonderful post! Both you and the NaturExplorer ladies have reminded me this week that we are learning about God Himself when we study nature! And, this isn’t just something “fun” I should be squeezing in and feeling guilty about because it is taking time away from “real” schoolwork. It is important! It is something God wants us to do.. He’s told us He has revealed Himself to us in nature. We must observe nature, just as we study our Bible, to discover what He has “written!”

I couldn’t agree more, and you said it so well! My heart aches for the scientists that are so knowledgeable about the natural world and yet don’t see or hear the God who made it. The tiniest and most “insignificant” things my kids and I have found on our nature walks have spoken such loud things of the goodness and creativity of God!
