hi there. I am a young mom in China and your site and I are going to become good friends... we are in an isolated city so it is nice to find someone who knows the drill. Life - especially the raising a child here bit - is so foreign to friends back home.
God bless!

Wow, Awesome questions! And the way your husband handled it is awesome too. Sending her to the Bible to find the answers not only teaches her how to discover truth on her own but it also make the truth hers. If he would have just told her the answers, the truth would still be his truth not hers. I hope that made sense. I just saw Josh McDowell recently and he spoke on that very way of teaching kids truth. Awesome!

Great post! I loved all the wonderful questions my kids had while growing up, and the terrific conversations that ensued. How blessed our children are to be homeschooled, and how blessed we are to be there for them!

PS My kids often wrote notes, too....I still have a lot of them and they bring back the best memories.

I am so with you on the planning, but going with interests.

Those are awesome qustions. Mine are preschoolers, so our questions are about who made what and why. I'm looking forward to a day of questions like yours.

that is SO awesome that she's open enough to ask those questions from those she loves and TRUSTS the most. It should be you guys, and it was. How neat that you've created this openness in your home for her to voice fears and questions. I once told my son, "God isn't afraid of your questions. In fact...God says, "BRING IT ON"." (I have to speak like a boy sometimes, haha) I love that God doesn't need us to even soften the truth. Truth resonates on our souls. Don't ya think?
