Beijing Vacation & Ultimate Field Trip

I want to admit something before I show off the pictures from our latest adventure. When I see your blogs showcasing your recent trip to Gettysburg National Cemetery or to the Smithsonian or even to a plain old country fair, I get envious. Yes, I get envious because I “can’t” do that. Silly isn’t it? We certainly take our share of field trips, and many of them fall into the “ultimate” category. So why be envious?

I guess it’s human (IE fallen) nature to want what we don’t have. So just keep that in mind as you see the highlights from our latest dream trip –a week in Beijing! It was awesome!

So cool! :) I’m jealous!!

That picture of you on the wall cracks me up since the wall looks crooked, but if the picture is turned, you would be on your side. :)

Oh, I love Beijing! Mu Tian Yu is my FAVORITE portion of the GW because of the incredible hights! :o ) I admit, I am envious, but have to be satisfied with our trip to D.C. this year! Next year, hopefully we’ll get some China time in!

Five years ago we visited Ba Da Ling. Mu Tian Yu was much better. It was neat to walk until the sign that said “not allowed any farther.” Then the wall was all grown over with bushes and such. We talked about how fun it would be to backpack on into the unknown along the wall.

In 2005 we did summer. Fall was so much more comfortable!

I’m not envious. I’m happy for you getting to take that amazing trip. Your pictures are wonderful. I’m just packing myself into a box right now, how long would it take me to get there? I won’t be a bother on your next trip. I’ll take all the pictures for you, so you don’t have to ask strangers and I’ll just eat rice. : )

Heh heh heh. Come on, Brenda! It’ll take around two weeks if you pay extra for postage. And food is cheap, we can do much better than just rice!

Wow, those are great!! And I WILL admit, I AM a little envious!!! Especially since the last lapbook we did was on Ancient China, and your hanging out at places we’ve only read about!!!
LOL.
I love it though, and am happy that you & your family are getting to experience the grandeur. Awesome!!

(But I must say, a trip to “Krispy Kreme” doughnuts, to see how they are made just doesn’t compare to the Great Wall!!! LOL!!)

We have been to the Ba Da Ling section and was impressed… hmmm… makes me want to go back and check out the section that you were at! The boys are dying to visit The Great Wall!

I think it’s even more special to see those historic sites since y’all appreciate and no SO much more than the average tourist.

I thought the Summer Palace was gorgeous even in February when it was frozen over.

Wow! And you have some wonderful pictures too! We had the Terracotta Warriors here in NZ early this year, but unfortunately we didn’t get to see them. I do regret it!

Hiya Jimmie! Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures. It looks like an amazing trip!!

I know what you mean about being jealous. I too take lots of ‘dream’ trips around Europe that others only dream of doing, but I’m more jealous when they talk about the country fair back in the states or a trip to Cracker Barrel! LOL!

I guess it is a case of being Thankful for the wonderful things God gives us in our lives – where ever they are and what ever they are! Thanks for the reminder. :o )

Oh man! Now that is a dream trip. I understand what you mean. I have been known to follow a blog for a while just because they were moving to my childhood home town and I was excited to see familar places. (I grew up in a very historical place).
Blessings,
Dawn
