Odds and Ends

1.  Did you know that Sprite won a contest? She made a 2010 collage for Activity Village and won a £30 Amazon gift voucher. Do you know how much £30 is? That’s $48 ! Wow! What a prize!

After you look at Sprite’s collage, be sure to check out the website. They have lots of printables and crafts.

Sprite surprised me by asking if I’d trade her the certificate for cash –  hard, cold cash, she said to be exact. It turned out to be 325 RMB. She opened a bank account a few months ago and has been faithfully squirreling away money in preparation for our trip to USA this spring. She wants to take her RMB, convert it to USD and spend it in America so that she doesn’t have to pay the high shipping rates to send things to China. She even mentioned thrift stores. Smart girl.

And sneaky girl. Later she admitted that she figures she’ll still benefit from the gift certificate since I’ll probably buy books for homeschool. She’s probably right. How’d she get so smart?

2.  Why don’t you all check out the HOTM forum? It’s getting pretty lonely over there. (Do you all already have your own online forum haunts with no room for a new one?) Come over and throw me a bone. I’m in the Charlotte Mason area as well as others.

Curriculum Choice Homeschool Review Blog3. My latest review at The Curriculum Choice is a review of Beautiful Feet History of Classical Music. You can read all my reviews here just in case you missed a few. (wink wink)

The Homeschool Classrom4. Did you know The Homeschool Classroom has moved? Their website is really nifty. I was a fan before, but now I’m really impressed. They also now use WordPress just like me. It’s awesome. Like a WordPress sisterhood.

5. Sprite has updated her blog (finally) with a cute craft that she gave to me. I love the needle book; it’s so practical yet also pretty.

NaturExplorers at Shining Dawn Books6. I’ve got a guest post up at NaturExplorers. I  had this great insight from 1 Kings and had to share it with Cindy & Melissa. They liked it and agreed to post it. Aren’t you curious what  1 Kings has to do with nature study? Go read it and see.

Way to go, Sprite! Jimmie, your article at Shining Dawn Books is awesome! (Like everything else you write.) Seriously, I’m preparing to speak to a group of homeschoolers about nature study and your article has inspired me to change gears and go at it from a more Biblical perspective.
