Chinglish Fun

by Jimmie on February 23, 2010

When we made the little trip to pick up Sprite, I made sure to carry my camera around most of the time. I was richly rewarded. The first one is my favorite — Chinglish on the side of a very nice Toyota SUV.

Yeah, don’t even ask. I have no idea either.

toyota chinglish

This one at least makes sense although it’s worded quite oddly.

airport chinglish

BathFool sounds intriguing. But we didn’t go.

bath fool

Such a dignified lady and such expensive clothes with such a ridiculous name.

wanko

Starbucks wannabe.

banilla coffee

Another really bad translation.

Too funny! Boy, I don’t get the toyota one at all… However, the word speed with toyota is just not good wording in the states at all right now. Everyone, is a bit afraid of the uncontrolled speed that keeps coming from those cars.

I think I qualify as a bathfool. I love baths. Looking at the characters in front of the English, though, I think “fool” should have been “foot”. That clears everything right up, doesn’t it? Foot bath, maybe? We do have those in Japan.

Yes, Sue! You’re so smart. It’s a foot massage place. Foot massage includes soaking, thus the BATH. :-)

love it! Gave me a chuckle. I was in Taiwan a few years ago, and we got a kick out of the “save more value” signs.
