Two Months of America

Newsflash! April 30 we head for the USA. It will take us about 24 hours, all told, to get to our destination.  As bad as that is, I comfort myself with the thoughts of the pioneers who took the “slow boat to China.” We will spend all of May and June there, visiting family, traveling, and stocking up for the next three years in China.

I don’t know how much internet access we will have.  So I have no idea how much blogging I’ll do during those two months.

Actually, it’s quite possible that the things I would be most excited in May and June about would be quite boring to you.

Imagined blog titles:

1. Ate Mexican Food Five Times This Week

2. My Clothes are New From My Skin Out

3. No One Laughs at how Tall (or “Fat”) I Am When I Shop

4. Didn’t Hear the Word “Foreigner” Shouted Out at Me All Week Long

5. Thrift Store Finds

6. Box Day Times Five

7. Fun Times With Mom

8. Saw Three Movies This Week — in English!

9. Got Drinks and Used an ATM all Without Leaving the Car

10. Did All Our Laundry in One Load

To say we are excited is an understatement. It has been 28 months since we’ve been in USA. It’s time.

Life resumes to “normal” in July.

Oh Jimmie!!! Enjoy every minute! Not boring titles at all. I’m just a teansy bit jealous actually. We are going at Christmas and that will be 24 months since we have been. Although I can make Mexican food quite readily now here in England, I can relate to most of the rest of it completely!!!

Have a wonderful time and don’t worry about or blogging! Just enjoy your family and every precious minute of your time there. Make memories enough to last the next three years!!! And have a safe trip too! – Deedee

Box day times five? That one I don’t get. We say we will eat a ton of cereal and real hotdogs! We go the end of june for 4 weeks or so, but we go every year. Hope you have a great trip!

Your life will be returning to normal as we cross the pond from Europe destination USA! We’ll only be there for three weeks in July, but since we haven’t been home in six years we are excited! My youngest has never been to the United States ~ she’s probably the most excited. I hope you have a great visit! Your break from blogging will give me a chance to go all the way back through your archives, so I’ll still be hanging around! :-)

Enjoy! We are heading to the States for a month end of June and looking forward to that visit. It has been two years and we are in dire need of Carmex and pure maple syrup amongst other things! Do you gain weight when you travel to the States? That seems to be a problem for us :)

I’d crack up and enjoy reading the posts. I certainly would love to have Mexican food five times in a week.

I take all of those things for granted, but I promise to look at them in a different light after reading this! I know you don’t know us, but I have so enjoyed your blog the last few weeks. Our daughters are the same age, so if you are in So.California and want to meet up with us and our home school friends we would be thrilled. Enjoy your trip and time at home! Lynn and Gillian

That is awesome. Have a great time! I think I would enjoy all those blog posts. I’ve only been away from the States for a five months and I miss all of that already. Especially the laundry this week. What I wouldn’t give for a big American washer…

Have a wonderful time seeing the national heritage and alllllllllll that space! I hope you get your fill of convenience and logical appliances that actually do the job intended of them. Relish the school paraphernalia search, too. We would all love to hear of your fun whenever you get the chance. You’ll have an eager audience when you do. Enjoy yourselves immensely.

I am so excited for you! For many years I lived in Africa with occasional visits ‘home’ to the UK. I hope you have a wonderful time and that you are able to help Sprite with all the new experiences which will seem so ‘foreign’ to her. God bless you and grant you many wonderful bargains!

Have a great time in the States! I’m sure you’ll be stocking up on books (I’m assuming that’s box day times 5)! Maybe try to even hit some library book sales while you’re in the States!

Hooray for you!!! Boo hoo for my blog reading. But I’ll get over it…

So do your friend in China ever want you to bring things back? Is there a common item that people identify the USA with? Just wondering… Even though you probably won’t see this until you are settled in Stateside.

Enjoy your time with family and BOOKS and shopping and Mexican Food and fun! I do wish you were coming to Houston. I would love to give you a big hug!

Hubba Hubba! Translate that into “That’s Terrific!”

I really hope you have a fabulous time in the U.S. Personally, I think you should try some Chinese food – it’s bound to be authentic! Box Day – is that where you buy all you can fit into a box at a thrift store? Am I right? Do I win? Sorry, in a silly mood. Is it a major culture shock when you visit the states after living in China? I’ll bet the billboards seem boring here, compared to what you’re used to. Anyway, don’t worry about blogging, just have fun. We’ll be praying for a safe trip!

I’m very glad for you. We also have to save for three years to be able to go to Europe to see my dh and my family. I used to complain about the 16 hours total travel time including the two planes, but I WON’T anymore :-)
I laughed about the things you’ll come to enjoy.
Pics and posts whenever you can, promise?
