Hi there! It’s been so long! But I thought you might like to check this game out as well. My boys have been enjoying it lately as we have been doing a unit on pirates while reading Treasure Island. It is called Science Pirates-The Curse of Brownbeard. It’s main focus is about food safety and the importance of handwashing, how they get there though is by investigation, setting up experiments and testing hypotheses and variables. It has kept a 7th grader and 4th grader interested while teaching them the difference between a dependent and independent variable.
It’s a free download you can get here…http://www.sciencepirates.org/about.html
This link will take you directly to the game objectives and description so you can get a really good idea of what it iks before you download it.
Happy Pirate-ing!

Thanks, Jimmie, for doing the homework in finding these tremendous websites. I have perused them and will, now, set my 12 year old grandson the task of finding which sites, and parts of sites, will be appropriate for his learning, and for the learning of his 3, 5, and 6 year old sisters. An excellent wealth of information and a positive use of computer time for him today, plus, the benefit which will spill over to his sisters.
