Glamorizing the Mom Notebook

August 25, 2011 By Jimmie Quick 19 Comments

modpodgenotebook (6)

My Mom’s Homeschool Notebook is a thrift store find — it’s a thick. two inch binder in pink with a year written on the spine in permanent marker.  But it just got a makeover thanks to Mod Podge. Can you believe this is the first time I’ve ever used this crafty substance? It looks like white glue but dries clear.

I cut out some fun images and quotes from some ratty children’s books and “mod podged” them onto the cover. Big M-O-M letters, cut  from the same books, label the notebook spine. Simple, rather childish, but far more peppy than the original look.

Do you use Mod Podge? What was your latest Mod Podge project?

First of all, welcome to the world of ModPodge. It rocks.

And secondly, I never thought of using it to decoupage my notebook. What an awesome idea! I think I’m off to raid my scrapbook paper stash and see what I can come up with.

    Love you!!

    Totally adorable!

It’s been a while since I’ve modpodged anything, but one of my favorite little projects was decorating a plain wooden photo frame for a baby shower gift. Totally custom, & can make one for any decorating theme.

    Love it Jimmie!

I still have my jazzed up Mom notebook: I slipped a 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbooked page into the slip in mine. Only the photos of my baby don’t quite match the little girl asking for more play dough please while her brothers work at the kitchen table.

Wonderfully creative! It’s been a while since we used Modgepodge at the Hodgepodge but we must soon 🙂

Great idea! Our latest modge podge project: white canvases with comic book cut-outs. I needed something inexpensive for my son’s room, which is dark blue. I knew that white canvases would work to brighten up the room but didn’t know what to put on the canvases. So, I asked him. 😉 He picked out pictures he likes from comic books and made collages, then put them on with decoupage. Awesome! Very inexpensive decor (I got 7 canvases for $12.) I’ll post photos one of these days!

I’ve never mod podged either… maybe I’ll have to take some back with me (oh, wait there’s no room!) only 18 days ’til we go back.

    🙂

I love Mod Podge! My Mom used it all the time when we were growing up. I’m planning to introduce my girls to it this year with some decoupage projects.

Mod Podge is one of our favorite craft products! We use it to decorate notebooks and make all kinds of things. We used it to put tissue paper on an old jar to make a candle holder. Right now fabric markers are a big hit with my daughter. She decorates her own clothes, and she decorates her outgrown clothes and gives them to her friends. She also uses them on cloth bags that we take to the library. Keep the ideas coming! You’re so creative!

That is too cute! I helped my daughter decorate her binder but I didn’t do mine. Maybe this year… 🙂

I did my first Mod Podge project a few weeks ago when redecorating my son’s and daughter’s rooms. I bought chipboard letters to spell their names. Then, we bought some pretty scrapbook paper for daughter and pirate patterned paper for son and covered the letters with the paper using Mod Podge. They turned out great!

We love Mod Podge. Our most recent project was using it and some left over scrapbook paper to decorate my daughter’s clip board for in the school room. We don’t have desks or a table in that room yet so it makes for a great writing surface and is totally portable.

I love Mod Podge and decoupaging, the first time I saw a crafter use this I was addicted. I wanted to decoupage everything, lol. The book turned out really cute, very clever.
    Peace, <

Lovely file, Jimmie! We love Mod Podge! We made pretty beaded candle jars with some tissue paper and Mod Podge. I ‘podged’ a set of coasters recently and can’t wait for another Mod Podge opportunity!

I can’t believe I have never modge podged! But I should!!!

I vaguely remember doing a similar project with paper plates and pretty flowers cut out from magazines or wrapping paper… it dried so clear and we gave our “fancy” plates to mom as a gift.
